Re: Does anyone remember this advert?

I am sure that in around 1989 WHSmith advertised "back to school" items with a man's head - "your mates will think you're an egghead" is mentioned as an egg is cracked on his bald head. I know that...

    Re: School visitors

We mostly heard the fire alarm go off rather than get the Fire brigade visiting, although nine times out of ten it would almost be a false alarm. Someone attempted arson on an Art Room at some point...

    Re: The Gideons

They used to vary in colour and size - some were bright red while others could be burgundy or even purple or brown. Older editions were a darker or red or brown, while newer ones were a brighter red...

    Re: Jotters.

They had more pages than an average exercise book and felt as if they were made on recycled paper - I never used to like using them because of the roughness of the books and paper inside.

    Re: School Trips

Why did I miss this thread the first time around? Anyway, I think I have mentioned this before, but I will list them again...

    Re: Doctor sleep

Not long after we had our first VCR, my sister used to have a thing about 18 certificate films, renting videos from a local video place (ID included methinks), and even taping them off the TV - one...

Regarding the online application form that I completed last week, if there is any news about that, I shall let you know!

Re: A place of one's own

It's amazing that we think alike as members of this forum - I don't know whether it is anything to do with the past and comparing where we lived and how we lived decades ago and now, and thinking...

    Re: swimming lessons

I just remembered that in around 1987 the regular leisure centre that we had our swimming lessons was closed due to renovation, and so we had to travel a few miles on the bus to another leisure...

    A place of one's own

Five years ago I left the family home (which was indeed the family home for nearly half a century) for the last time to move to the suburbs - I was the only person who actually moved due to various...

    Re: swimming lessons

In around 1986 we had swimming lessons on Tuesday afternoons, and it was around the same time that the AIDS epidemic was frequently mentioned on TV and in newspapers. Before it was our turn to go in...

    Re: swimming lessons

Don't mention soap to me - I often come out in a rash when I use it. Anyway, I go there to swim not to have a bath. :)

    Re: Any keen gardeners ??

Thankfully my place doesn't have a garden - my late father used to do the gardening at my old place until he passed on, and then it had assistance from the council's gardening scheme. It would never...

    Re: McDonald's

I visited Oakham twice - once as part of a mystery tour. I bet that a lot of cafes and restaurants there benefit a bit from McDonald's absence.

Re: Who Was Your Dream Girl Of The 70s?

Now, as I have just seen Grease the Musical in Leicester last week, I suppose that for obvious reasons, I should go for Newton-John as well because of her "are they trousers or cycle shorts?" part in...

Re: Who Was Your Dream Girl Of The 70s?
