  1. Re: Regional children's programmes on ITV after CITV

She made the programmes look boring in comparison. Amazing that she was an unknown who happened to get the job in 1998.
  2. Re: Regional children's programmes on ITV after CITV

I was surprised that Kotter didn't make it to Channel 4 as it would have got an officially national transmission in Britain (that's if S4C also showed it as well). I am certain that Please Sir!...

    Re: The Searchers

They were obviously before my own time as a 1960s group but I do enjoy listening to them when stations like Gold plays their hits.

Don't Throw Your Love Away is one of my favourites - it's a pity...

    Re: Grand National Memories

I had in my mind that the rerun was closer to 1999, but I knew that it was the late 1990s. A pity that they didn't do this in 1993 so that the punters and the bookies didn't end up having nervous...

    Re: old jamaica

  9. Re: Regional children's programmes on ITV after CITV

Of course, if you mean the 5.15 pm slot which was sandwiched between the end of Children's ITV and the start of News at 5.45 there were a lot of programmes there as well - some were children's...

    Re: Grand National Memories

Wasn't it at some point in the late 1990s when it was postponed on the Saturday and rerun the following Monday? BBC 2 had shown it on a Monday afternoon.

I am not thinking of the 1993 event but...

    Re: old jamaica

Never had one myself, but I always assumed that it was alcoholic chocolate or something - a bit like liqueurs that most parents had at Christmas.

Re: The Secret World of Polly Flint

It was on Children's ITV, Mondays 4.45 pm around February and March of 1987. Was made by Central (or indeed an independent for Central), and featured the company's Junior Television Workshop member...

I am almost certain that if you have got a good and comfortable bed to sleep in, it probably helps when it comes to the way we sleep, and whether we dream about good or bad things.

The year 2000 from a past perspective

So this happens to be my 2,000th "official" post (even though it would have been a few more, once upon a time) - hallelujah!

As I have now clocked up 2,000 posts on the DYR meter with this very...

  21. Re: Tv programmes that would not be shown today

Again, we like to mock the past as it is alien to us now without wanting to realise that once upon a time, what happened back then was quite normal. As early as 1986, the 1970s were parodied by...
  22. Re: Tv programmes that would not be shown today

I don't like the "ironic" nostalgia programmes anymore like you just said, but when they were done by someone who knew what they were talking about, they were a lot better. It'll Be Alright on the...
