    Re: Winter

All the ice went on Thursday - Monday's cold weather is a distance memory now.

    Re: Winter

There was a bit of sun coming out yesterday - unbelievable that only 48 hours before it was snowing.

I didn't hear lightning, and I don't think that I would have been fully asleep at that time.

    Re: Winter

Probably because we are not used to snow in this country as other countries are - the fact that most children live within the catchment area of their school makes it easy to get there even in snowy...

    Re: Winter

I wondered how long it would be before the Dennis the Menace storm would be nicknamed - the Daily Star was one of the first to pick up on that one!

    Re: Winter

I tell you something - this Storm Ciera seems to equal the 1987 storm in any case (did the 1987 storm have a name, or was it before British storms and hurricanes were named?)

    Re: Winter

Snow, and tons of the stuff in Nottingham.

Took me four and a half hours to do a trip out that would have originally took an hour and a half on an ordinary day.

    Re: Winter

Odd how we pronounce Storm Ciera like a K and not a C, a bit like Keira Knightley's name.

    Re: Winter

For a moment I thought you were referring to the infamous October 1987 storm that Michael Fish misled the nation about - I went to school on Friday 16th October, and to be honest, I could have been...

    Re: Winter

I think there has been lots of heavy snowfalls since - I know that in around 1991 we were without power for a couple of hours. Cue the candles coming out of the cupboard which hadn't seen the light...

    Re: Winter

I read earlier on that the first Monday in February is usually the main day in the year when people are more likely to be off with colds, flu or anything else wrong with then. I suppose that as the...

    Re: Winter

It was also known as Emu's World and was on Friday afternoon Children's ITV in the mid 1980s - cue Grotbags, Croc and a load of Corona Stage School kids who probably got "what for" from their peers...

    Re: Winter

There was also the Corona Stage School - I think that they provided the kids for Emu's Pink Windmill Show in the mid 1980s.

Not fond of Dandelion and Burdock I am afraid.

    Re: Winter

Just think of that virus in China - at least: A) No one outside China has died; and: B) No one in Great Britain has been tested positive for the virus.

It's like the bird flu or swine flu from a...
