  1. Re: London's Burning TV Series (1986 till 2002)

Bayleaf was because he liked cooking I think.

I remember Charisma (would-be ladies man) and Zorba (of Greek origin).
  2. Re: London's Burning TV Series (1986 till 2002)

Yes it was good viewing for many years, normally on a Sunday night.

It went downhill when most of the original cast had left & it was re-tooled to be more soap like.

    I've also spotted it on...

  4. Re: The third year becoming Year Nine and all that

I remember I went from Year 1 to Year 8 in 1990, so maybe my school was a bit early introducing it.

It always seemed to be one year out, as I had 7 years at primary school, unless the first year...

I remember the Early Learning Centre had a dolls house with figures like this.
  8. Re: Younger Relatives Making Use of Your Old Toys

My Uncle is the youngest in a large family so my cousins often used to get hand me downs from their cousins, so many of their toys in the 1980s were ones from the mid to late 1970s.

    Sometimes my &...
  9. Re: This programme is dedicated to... Who has sadly passed away since filming.

Recently I saw a Four In A Bed with caption at the end mentioning that one of the contestants had since passed away.

Last Christmas Channel 5 showed a programme on Christmas songs made a few years...

    Re: Autumn

It feels that way at times as I spent most of the summer indoors and hardly any sport on TV.
  11. Re: recording TV on audio cassette / tape reel

Dick Emery also was also another early home video taper. His collection contains early performances by Queen and Lenny Henry that had their master tapes wiped.
  12. Younger Relatives Making Use of Your Old Toys

Recently my parents have fetched down some of my old toys from their attic, along with some of my sisters.

It has pleased me that my Niece and Nephew are having fun playing with them.

Re: '70s board games still in production

I remember me & my brother were once given some games, including a set of Risk which were too young to understand how to play.
  14. Re: recording TV on audio cassette / tape reel

I tried this once or twice, but usually someone wanted to watch TV at the same time.

My brother used to record Spitting Image onto tape so he could listen later on.

Re: what tv show have you been watching.

I'm working my way through Pennies From Heaven, my recently deceased Dad really liked Dennis Potter's dramas, and so far this has lived up to it's reputation.

I might buy the Singing Detective...

Re: JAWS 3 - The WORST Sequel Ever

Yes it's not very good compared to the original film, which was a stage musical for many years before being adapted to a film.

Re: Things you no longer see or hear on TV

I was surprised that adverts for cigars & loose tobacco were on TV until the early 1990s. Cigarette ones ended in the mid 1960s.
