    Band of Gold

I am not referring to Freda Payne's 1970 Number One hit (so please don't put this in the "Music" part of the forum, Mods), but the 1990s ITV Monday 9.00 pm drama made by Granada, where the main...

    Re: Grandma Pie Advert

That advert was on TV in the 2000s or even the early 2010s, although she actually said "Tuesday" instead of "Friday".

Re: The year 2000 from a past perspective

On a tangent, there is an old TVS programme on YouTube about environmentalism which was made in 1990, and at the end of the programme it did a parody TVS News bulletin about what life would be like...

    Re: Coronavirus... thoughts ..

I couldn't agree more - the problem is that for most families who move to a new area, the parents are often more interested in whether it has a local pub rather than a local school. Education is more...

To be fair, schools and pubs both have Teachers and Bells.

I thought that was in 1970 hence the Matthews Southern Comfort song of the same name.

Re: I Have Just Thought of something.

Personally, I think that the 1970s and 1980s are decades have more stimulating memories to talk about on rather than the 1960s - in the 1960s most TV programmes were still in monochrome for example,...

Not surprising considering he had some odd parts.

Re: Bruce Forsyth and his syrup

I think that it was Wogan who had that - rumour had it that he had three different ones to give the illusion that he has regular haircuts and grows back again.

    Re: Coronavirus... thoughts ..

I have always dreaded going back to school in September, but this was back in the 1980s and early 1990s long before coronavirus!

Funnily enough, when I hear of schools going back I think...

    Re: The 1960s

There were a lot of history-making events happening in the 1960s - Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon in 1969; Yuri Gagarin setting foot in space in 1961 (and sadly killed in a plane crash in...

A lot of classrooms at school had Xpelair extractor fans above the front door - with the switches next to the light switches. They were so noisy when they were switched on!

Re: Things you no longer see or hear on TV

The adverts don't smoke, and they don't advertise tobacco anymore either.

Of course, cigars and pipe tobacco was advertised well into the mid 1990s. Used to love that Des O'Connor / Russ Abbot...

Re: Bob Grant ( TV Actor)

Did he get any further acting parts after OTB? I don't remember seeing anything with him in afterwards. No wonder he took his own life.

I would have regarded him as a Robin Askwith-type actor...

Why are Walkers disgusting, may one ask?

The did do some weird flavours in their Do Us a Flavour campaign a few years back - perhaps that is why they are disgusting?
