Re: The year 2000 from a past perspective

I faintly recall a programme which must have been from 1970, where the presenter referred to how things would be "in 30 years' time", i.e. 2000. That is the extent of that memory! :o

    Of course,...

    Re: The Searchers

The Searchers were named after the John Wayne film of the same name.

Also, Wayne's character had a catch-phrase: "That'll be the day", which is from where the song of that name got its title! :)

I picked up a free Sooty and Sweep album many years ago. Strange, considering Sooty was silent... :D

Re: Watching musicals at the theatre

We saw a retro show by a band called Lipstick On Your Collar a coupla weeks ago. As you can probably guess, they concentrated on music between about 1955 and 1965. Bloody brilliant it was!!! :)

    Re: Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In

Yes, we definitely watched it chez nous but the only thing I remember is that German soldier's line. I doubt he'd remember now but my brother and I used to say it to each other! :)

Churchill dies when I was two years old - obviously, I don't remember that, but I've seen references to it in many historical TV programmes.

I remember the Wilson vs. Heath years, especially...
  25. Re: places in th UK you would love to visit and why

My surname is Walker and, according to a book I read about Walkers 20 or so years ago, the largest concentration of them is in Leeds! The name comes from the cloth industry, someone would "walk"...
