    Re: Bonnie Tyler.

Does anyone think that Tyler was a female version of Rod Stewart? The gruff voice they both have are comparisions.

I hope it's on Fridays at 5.00 pm, otherwise it wouldn't work.

    Re: The bill (1984-2010)

There are some great Bill episodes from the mid 1990s on YouTube - great to see them again.

ABBA is another group that we have Eurovision to thank for.

    Re: Songs with boys names

I have always regarded Jude as Judy.

Simon Smith and his Amazing Dancing Bear.

The Postman Pat theme (although Pat is usually a female abbreviation).

How many songs that have boys' names...

    Re: Actor Actress or Singers

Put me in tight blue jeans and a denim jacket and you have Shakin' Stevens.

I have always had a great imagination.

    Re: R I P Derek foulds

He appeared in every series, didn't he? (proving that the 1960s in Aidensfield lasted for 18 years).

    Re: Carol White

I am surprised that after Cathy Come Home, White didn't have an increased profile. After all, she made "you're not having my baby" a national catchphrase in November 1966.

She died so young - does...

    Re: Electric Light Orchestra

Stick to musicals, I say - I might get tickets if an ELO tribute musical was doing the theatres.

Re: Films again and again . . .

    What a difference a day makes. ;)
  14. Re: Films given a different rating by the local town council than by the BBFC

Yes, I did believe that most films were fictitious.

    Never heard of Snuff.
  15. Re: Names of songs with funny or unusual lyrics

A lot of novelty songs fall into this remit such as Spitting Image's The Chicken Song.

Re: Favourite songs with girls names

It's odd that we don't really have songs with boy's names in them (not as love songs in any case...)

Barry Manilow's Mandy reminds me of someone with the same name (that's Mandy, and not Barry).

    Re: R I P Derek foulds

One of the few actors who almost became a children's TV presenter as "Mr Derek" to Basil Brush of course - and of course, Heartbeat and the "somewhere in between sitcom and satire" Yes Minister.

Re: Films again and again . . .

A Taste of Honey - such a great film. A teenage Rita Tushingham was such a star when she appeared in it. You can tell that Coronation Street started around this time considering the working-classness...
  20. Re: Films given a different rating by the local town council than by the BBFC

I used to think as a child that the Jaws films was really scary for obvious reasons, and I would have categorised it as an adult film, even thought it was shown pre-watershed. ITV used to show it on...

Re: Worst programme you have seen

I bet that the majority of worst programmes have been made and transmitted since 2000 rather than before then - what is it about the incumbent "everything goes" era of Ofcom and the way that...

Re: Adverts that terrified you as a kid

That's interesting - I don't think that I would find cartoons scary in that respect. I never found Tom and Jerry violent for example.

    Re: favourite musical films

I noticed that Gentleman Prefer Blondes is on one of the Channel 4 owned movie channels on Monday - I love that courtroom scene with Monroe sitting down in that brown mink coat that she is wearing.
