    Re: Coronavirus... thoughts ..

It's interesting how they all look like the 40000 most dedicated Wetherspoons regulars, with an average age of 56.

Either alcohol ages your looks so you appear to be at least 45 whne you are still...

    Re: Coronavirus... thoughts ..

I did wonder how well we would be doing if the government didn't drop the sense of urgency and opened things up in June.

    Re: Erasure

While I was a bit young for that era first time round, I've bought quite a few CDs of artists from that era since then.
  4. Re: 1970s Kids Tattoos in a packet what were they called?

They were stickers, I still have a few I stuck in a book.

Cookie is probably thinking of stick on transfer tattoos, the ones I remember came in a packet with some gum. They stuck quite well &...

    Re: Erasure

Thanks I've been interested for a long time about the stories behind some musical acts, it helped that the series Rock Family Trees was around when I was getting more interested in music.

    Re: Erasure

Originally they started as a project album by Vince Clarke, who planned to have each song performed by a different singer, but Andy Bell did well enough in auditions to become get the job full time.
  12. Re: London's Burning TV Series (1986 till 2002)

Bayleaf was because he liked cooking I think.

I remember Charisma (would-be ladies man) and Zorba (of Greek origin).
  13. Re: London's Burning TV Series (1986 till 2002)

Yes it was good viewing for many years, normally on a Sunday night.

It went downhill when most of the original cast had left & it was re-tooled to be more soap like.

    I've also spotted it on...

  15. Re: The third year becoming Year Nine and all that

I remember I went from Year 1 to Year 8 in 1990, so maybe my school was a bit early introducing it.

It always seemed to be one year out, as I had 7 years at primary school, unless the first year...

  19. Re: Younger Relatives Making Use of Your Old Toys

My Uncle is the youngest in a large family so my cousins often used to get hand me downs from their cousins, so many of their toys in the 1980s were ones from the mid to late 1970s.

    Sometimes my &...

    Re: Autumn

It feels that way at times as I spent most of the summer indoors and hardly any sport on TV.
  22. Re: recording TV on audio cassette / tape reel

Dick Emery also was also another early home video taper. His collection contains early performances by Queen and Lenny Henry that had their master tapes wiped.
  23. Younger Relatives Making Use of Your Old Toys

Recently my parents have fetched down some of my old toys from their attic, along with some of my sisters.

It has pleased me that my Niece and Nephew are having fun playing with them.

Re: '70s board games still in production

I remember me & my brother were once given some games, including a set of Risk which were too young to understand how to play.
  25. Re: recording TV on audio cassette / tape reel

I tried this once or twice, but usually someone wanted to watch TV at the same time.
