Likewise, set-top aerials. Literally "on" TV!
Time flies like the wind, fruit flies like bananas - go figure!

I remember when I was really young actually pulling the fixed set top aerial off our Ferguson TX

I remember when we had a separate one for BBC2!

Now that I never knew. I was aware that you had to upgrade your aerial to get 625 line signals but I thought the ‘new’ aerial could pick up 405 line signals

Bank Holiday television programmes on Bank Holidays such as James Bond and Disney films. Now it just looks like an ordinary weekday schedule.

Daytime television programmes differing on weekdays.

Yes, but how long for? In a few years' time, I wouldn't be surprised to see Homes Under the Hammer at 10.00 am on Christmas morning rather than the Christmas Church Service.

Re: Things you no longer see or hear on TV

I am mostly talking about Bank Holidays such as May Day (the conclusion of the World Snooker final excepted), the Spring Bank Holiday and also the one at the end of August which is around my own birthday.

Does anyone remember the ITV Telethon? Now that would liven a Bank Holiday Monday up.

Re: Things you no longer see or hear on TV

Long before 24 hour television i would eagerly buy tv and radio times just to see what programmes would be shown during the day on bank holidays, itv with its different regions had different shows altogether, bbc had good ol Robinson crusoe and Casey jones. There was something special about Christmas tv, something a bit naughty about watching the tv at breakfast time, i remember one year, in the sixties, London, possibly Redifusion started broadcasting at 7.00am on boxing day and although in the newspapers it read "as london except" for the regions, this was the only itv station to do so, my Anglia started about 9.00am.
I miss the days of regional tv with its in vision announcers Anglia and ATV were my stations. Today everything is very bland, back then even the fact that tv was broadcasting during the day seemed special and the programmes matched.

I remember the ITV Telethon being a rival to Children In Need & Comic Relief, but didn't seem to catch on as much.

Along with the Year of Promise and Text Santa as well.

Has anyone seen the Spring Bank Holiday schedules for next Monday? The only thing special about them is the shortened news bulletins. Could you have imagined This Morning appearing on a Bank Holiday in the 1990s?
