    Re: Trakkie Bottoms

does not seem right teachers wearing trekkie bottoms other that p.e. teachers as a few of mine did.
    but only p.e. teachers did.

but sounds mate as though you had teachers that did not do p.e. that wore them which does not sound right.

Wow - how ironic Darren mate, we sure are cut from the same-same cloth here....... as me too, I recall me going to an interview (not as job but at Agricultural College in a Tracksuit too - Puma King as it was actually). Though sadly the commute was too far to take up their offer - if I got one, which after 25 years I am unsure of!!

Darren, true this what you say about Trakkies/Tracksuit and a Job Interview - I went to a College interview as so with Polo and Tie - so that proves we must easily, easily be seperated twins no doubts mate

Yes, I worn them for my PE lessons as I hated shorts because they made my legs freeze and all that, and I also worn them on Saturday mornings circa 1990 when I went to this Judo group for a few weeks - they were the "flares" of the early 1990s as far as I was concerned.

Just like shell suits, I always have the assault course round on the Krypton Factor coming to mind.

To me they are still the Flares of the 2nd T2000s Generation/Decade , George as I have just always grown up in them - or at least since the 1980s and wearing Fleece/Fluffy Joggers type and proto-type Convers Joggers and Jumper un-branded of course

This would be the time I was first introduced to Football and Footy Shirts - around 1987 (on holiday in Ayr in 1987 on a Paddle Boat), though then my interested waverd until around 1991 as it did for Joggers and Trakkies, probably though in the Footy Shirts' case cos it was Man U - not as I knew as a ten year old I detested them, even though this was "just" into the Fergie era

As well as my beloved hometown Team (which iam against mentioning too deeply on here) which I know you can apprecaite why mate - this lead my to my love of Leeds Utd as my "Second First Team" - though I'd appreciate if you did'nt like them of course. This in turn lead to my love of Trakkies and my first love before Joggers of Puma King Trakkies versions1 nad 2 loving in that order in the great '95 Summer Heatwave and then after about 97 everythin went plus the Trakkies until I lost the most amazing chance in about '03 to buy some on a 2nd Hand Market

              Re: Trakkie Bottoms

To be honest, I think that Harry Enfield's Scousers characters didn't do too much for those who wore tracksuit bottoms.

A few years ago I had been trying to find some black tracksuit bottoms in the local shops which had the word "NIKE" printed in white at the back of them as I saw one or two people wearing them - I never saw any like that in any of the shops, not even the specialist sports shops such as JJB or JD.

                Re: Trakkie Bottoms

Trackie bottoms seem to have died out a bit, certainly for women. Ten years ago women in exercise classes wore them almost exclusively. Now they all wear skin tight leggings. In fact I’m a bit fed up with everything being skin tight - trousers and leggings. Very few women can pull off looking decent in skin tight things (and I include myself here) especially with the bum on show! However if I wear my old boot cut or baggy jeans I feel really old fashioned.

I always think of Mel C back in 1996 when I think of women wearing them.
