  • 80's songs on your Ipod

What 80's tunes ( the more obscure the better, most peeps will have the obvious ones) do you have on your Ipod?

At the moment i have the following

Two Tribes (12" mix) - Frankie
    Lone Ranger - Quantum Jump
The Upstroke (12" mix) - Agents Arent Areoplanes (SAW's first ever track)
    Touch by Touch - Joy
    Dreamtime - Daryll Hall
Rock Me Amadeus / Vienna Calling (12" versions) - Falco
Mamma Told Me (12" version) - Fantastique
Slice Me Nice (12" mix) - Fancy
Sun Always Shines on TV - A-ha
    Rise - Public Image Ltd

These are just a few as i have aprrox 2 gigs worth of classic 80's tunes, but it'l be interesting to see who else has what.

    Any advances???

I have to admit... my ipod is more 80's than anything else... you just can't beat the old tunes!... So on it I will admit to having:

Stand and Deliver - Adam and the Ants
    Happy Birthday - Altered Images
Land of Make Believe - Bucks Fizz
Making Your Mind Up - ''
    Sexy Eyes - Dr Hook
Our Lips Are Sealed - Fun Boy Three
Me and the Farrmer - Housemartins
The Sound of the Crowd - Human League
Give It Up - K.C and The Sunshine Band
View From A Bridge - Kim Wild
Pump Up the Volume - M.A.R.R.S
    Respectable - Mel and Kim
Bed's Are Burning - Midnight Oil
    You Got It - NKOTB
    First Time - Robin Beck
China in Your Hand - T'Pau
    Turning Japanese - The Vapors
Live It Up - Mental As Anything
If eight out of ten cats prefer whiskas, do the other two shave or wax?

It'd make a humdinger of an 80's compilation album folks, even with the soft drink advert tune !

my 80's tunes of choice on my 'ipod'

Apologies if they are waaay obscure for the most part.

          XTC-dear god
          Revco-Beers and steers and queers
Fuzzbox-International rescue and Love is the slug
Timbuk 3- Future's so bright (I gotta wear shades)
Stump- Charlton heston (put his vest on)
          King Trigger-River
          Bauhaus-Bela Lugosi's dead
          Cure-Close to me and Lovecats
          Visage-Fade to grey
          To name but a few
And for some bizarre reason I have Murray Head's rendition of One night in Bangkok. Mind you, it is quite a catchy little number with lot's of 80's hooks (singing in foreign languages, panpipes etc.)

Yeah unfortunatley he died in 1995 from an Aids related disease.
Apparently he lip synced on Tarzan Boy for some Italian Singer who wrote the song.

Seeing as that little list won't fit a three hour slot, here are a few more obscure rocky tracks that I like to bed down to in the wee hours of the morning with my favourite non branded MP3 player of choice.

Aerosmith- Janie's got a gun, love in an elevator
Zodiac Mindwarp (and the love reaction) Prime mover
Pop will eat itself Beaver Patrol
siousxie and the Banshees Happy house, Spellbound
Carter the Unstoppable sex machine Sheriff Fatman
Run DMC (with aerosmith) Walk this way
Bow Wow Wow I want candy
                              Sisters of Mercy This corrosion
                              B 52's Rock lobster
                              Bauhaus Ziggy Stardust
Thomas Dolby (anything by this guy is fantastic and I have most of the greatest hits on my 'pod)
                              Boomtown rats don't like mondays

hope that gives you a few more to go on
