  • wind toys for the garden

I had a plastic toy that you stuck in the garden with a windmill at one end that controlled a 'chopper man' who would chop wood at a hysterical rate of knots in a howling gale. I bet he was part of a range of similar items. Can anybody remember them?

I remember these. My grandma had the man chopping wood and sone sort of man holding a handle that looked like it was turning the windmill. They were big in the '80's.
    Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

I remember a friend of my brother's had one of those chopping men.

There are a few I've seen more recently, along with set of wind chimes the seemed to be popular in the 1990's.

Yep, the Wind-Well and the Chops-Well!
Apparently, I begged my mum not to get the Chops-well because he had the mechanism "up his bottom..." So we got the Wind-Well instead

Yes that's the sort of thing. Didn't realise they were still available.

I remember having one as well, so funny it was, the harder the wind blew the faster he chopped.

I remember that my nans(who we used to visit every summer) neighbour had the windmill man. I loved sitting in the garden during the summer hols peering over the old wire fence watching the little toy man 'working' in the light breeze.

We had one too, I remember seeing it ripped apart the winter following the summer my dad put it on the shed roof! I think we had it for about 3 months!
