  • The Magic Roundabout- Dougal swearing

Does anybody remember a notorious episode of The Magic Roundabout in which Dougal told Brian Snail to bugger off? It was on c.early 1976- Dougal was arguing with Brian and swore thus at him. Apparently the culprit was a BBC sound engineer who'd recently been made redundant, and was getting back at his employers.
It all sounded perfectly in line with the dialogue, there was no change in accent or voice tone. It didn't even surprise me, since Dougal was so boorish and rude, and Brian such a little upstart, that it sounded like the sort of thing that he WOULD say to him! It was all over the 'papers the following day though.

Sounds tame compared to somebody voicing an opinion (and swearing) about Five Star on Going Live but I reckon this was just a publicity stunt set up.
    WELCOME TO HELL!!!

Hated Brian. Loved the rest of them. I've got the feature film Doogal and the Blue Cat on dvd and its brilliant. It even has the French original on it....the CGI recent film was utter dog poo. My favourite character off the original is Florence.

            My Cat's name is Buxton.

            He's blue.

I think they were different incidents, but it's part of the risk when doing a like phone in.

In the original French version, when the dog announces himself with "C'est moi, Pollux!", it sounds a bit like swearing. ;-)

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

The "5-Star incident" was Saturday Superstore and WAS separate from the Matt Bianco incident and far superior in its fury, profanity and sheer genius! The critic was a young man called Elliot.....must be in his 30's now.....and his rant went along the lines of "5_Star you're ****ing ****, you're ****ing rubbish!", perfect anunciation & pronounciation. The look on 5-Star's faces is priceless as they took themselves so seriously, car-crash TV at its best!!

But the B side Magic Roundabout became the best remembered song
