As Billy Connolly once said about her ... "I wouldn't be too happy either if my surname rhymed with toilet".

Most famous was her wantig dr who banned a scene in the deadly assassin where tom was being drowned by the master.

                SHE WAS A MORAL CRUSADER.
                AND WANTED CERTAIN THINGS BANNED.

She obviously thought she was doing right.

I too remember there was a men's magazine in the 70's called Whitehouse - wonder if it was to goad her ?

Yes that was David Sullivan who inspired that one of his most explicit mags.

She was a despicable old boot. The arrogance of the woman to try and dictate what people can and cannot watch on TV. Don't like the programme? Don't watch it then, no one forced to watch the things she hated.

I was 9 when we got our first video recorder. I would regularly watch cert 18 films with my dad. By that old dead boot's logic I should be a murdering psychopath based on my young viewing habits. Anyone who is going to kill a child has a lot more wrong in their head than a few images from a film. Blaming a film or TV show for your violent actions is a total cop-out.

My opinion of Mary Whitehouse is she was just another 'Victor Meldew/Alf Garnett with nothing better to do in life is complain about anything & everything (Your stereotypical Mr (or in her case Mrs) Angry from Brentford (or wherever)

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Anyone heard Victor Lewis-Smith's phone call to her? It's quite funny, he calls her up to say she's won a cash reward for her moral crusades. All the time he's talking to her there's porn sounds playing in the background you clearly hear "I love your big dick in my ***". He says that's his wife in the other room with her fitness instructor. The Michael Winner call was pretty funny too. Fonejacker was like a poor man's Victor Lewis-Smith.

LOL, can't believe a kind of donkey is blocked out by the swear filter.

I remember his call to QVC when he pretends to be driving a car while watching, & suddenly crashes.

Her heart as in the right place even if she became out of touch with the way the society she was living in was heading.
