Help identify Childrens BBC 1980s drama

A drama which I think would have been around mid-80s. Only have a very vague recollection but it was live action, I have a feeling that it was imported from Denmark or the Netherlands or some place like that and was dubbed.

All I can remember is a boy riding on a horse on some sort of bleak flatland of fields - maybe marshy? With a windmill or some other large stone building in the background.

It sounds like Silas, made in Germany.

Is there a list of Foreign tv shows that showed in the UK on the internet anywhere? It would be really handy if there was one that listed all the foreign tv shows.Shows like the white horses,silas etc.If not,it may be a good idea to create a specific thread here at doyouremember listing them all,with links to pictures and video clips.

ah yes i remember this show very well.
did silas not live with his grandpa.
