  • The Big Match Revisited

Has anyone been watching your match (ITV 4, Saturday am), they are currently running season 1982-83 weekly highlights, only problem is it's not at a fixed time, could be anytime from 7am to 9am start.

Not seen it, but I will make sure i do now as I'm always up and around bright and early on Saturday.
The only thing to look forward to is the past

Got no idea on either of the questions as I only found the programme by accident about 4 weeks ago (it does appear to follow on a weekly basis), you can watch the games/episodes again on the ITV website, ITV 4 section they run for about 4 weeks.

          The Big Match Revisited

They are now revisiting 1979, this week it was 14th January only saw last game Leeds v Man City 1-1, a cracking goal from B.Kidd to equalise, it's good to see all the old players and shirts from childhood. It can be watched again on ITV's website (only 30 days left mind).

Did anyone else see 'The Kick Off Match' (which is on instead on The Big Match Revisited sometimes) this morning?

It was a game between Sunderland and Wrexham from 1978 or 1979 and I couldn't believe my eyes when a player from Wrexham (I didn't catch his first name but his surname was Fox) exposed himself (by accident I hope!), he was fouled by a Sunderland player and the camera panned in as he sat on the ground with his erm tackle hanging out

Put me right off my breakfast!

                Re: The Big Match Revisited

I've been watching these since last year - they're great. Still seem odd when you see a back-pass to the keeper. I saw the Derby Co. Vs Notts Forest game a few weeks ago. There was more sand on that pitch than Blackpool beach.

Also, Is it just me or does The Big Match theme tune sound like the start of Battle of the Planets?

                    Just about Darren!

I'm surprised it wasn't spotted though as it's been shown a few times. Now I know why they make them wear long shorts

                      It does a bit yes!

The Kick Off Match theme tune was way better I think.

i love that theme tune of big match revisited...

and yeah the pitches are very sandy.
                        they show some great matches.

They seem to be repeating 1979 endlessly now. It's a shame they couldn't show more. Were 79 and 83 the years that MOTD wasn't on, and is it somehow related to rights, do you think?

I watch these if I'm aware they're on. We have been on it once to my knowledge. Brilliant days of farmyard pitches, frozen pitches, orange balls on snow and when shirts were proper shirts, not like the three quarter length things these days though conversely they look like the knickerbockers of medieval times.
