    Re: Leyland National buses

Some smaller bus operators do actually still use Leyland Nationals

One of the more popular buses now are the DAF Optares the size of a mini-bus ideal on small country lanes

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Wow - really! They must be preserved ones I guess yeah?

I always liked the Mark 2s better than the Mark 1s - loved the Pod the Mark 2s more often than not had - which made them stand out better than the Mark 1s I think!

In the summer there is a 'Wheels Festival' in Bournemouth which celebrates the bus. All the local operators (Wilts & Dorset/Bournemouth Yellow/Purbeck Breezer (which is an arm of Wilts & Dorset) plus many others from around the south

This Leyland National was photographed at Barry transport festival a couple of years ago. It displays the X8 Maerdy - Cardiff Express service. It was discontinued to be replaced by the X32 Maerdy - Cardiff Express Service. This has also been discontinued due to low passenger use.
