  • Bonanza

Bonanza was a western tv series which ran from september 12th 1959 until january 16th 1973.
there where 14 seasons totalling 4 hundred and 30 episodes.

    It starred lorne greene,michael landon,dan blocker,pernell roberts.

    Some other info.

Saturday night ratings were very bad and Bonanza was soon targeted for cancellation. Given one last chance, it was moved to Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m.
The new time slot caused the series to soar, and it eventually reached number one by the mid-'60s

In the opening sequence, when the actors ride on their horses towards the camera and are introduced, the order in which they are introduced is never consistent this was likely done to prevent a single actor from becoming the "main" star of the show.

    Re: Bonanza

Yup quite an amazing classic show, i still love to watch!

Did you know, the episode where Michael Landon's character little Joe goes blind & was taught by a lady how to deal with his blindness, was changed by Michael?!

His character was meant to fall in love with the lady who helped him! But by that point, Michael had gotten sick and tired of his character always falling in love, so he asked to change the story line!

Also.. did you know the episode where little Joe married, it wasnt meant to be little Joe marrying the lady! it was meant to be Hoss marrying her! But after Dan Blocker (who played Hoss) died, they had to change the script & so they chose Little Joe to be the one to marry her instead!

The tears Michael cried in that episode were real and because of the loss of his best friend! it truly hit him hard!!
    Landon baby...

      Re: Bonanza

It seemed to be common thing in Bonanza that any Women who got involved with the Cartwright seemed to be doomed, which might explain Michael Landon's reactions to the above.

In Happy Days Mrs Cunningham noticed this & didn't like watching it any more.
