Remember it from Monday nights, when dad was nightshift nightshift so we could stay up later so The Sweeney, MASH, Rhoda. We still sing the opening them tune when taking corners too fast. Why do I specify the opening theme tune ?

Unfortunately, this is rapidly becoming the case with many of the old shows which are shown on the present-day stations. If it isn't hacking out bits because some modern "PC" idiot deems that it shouldn't be included now, it's just cutting out scenes to make room for more commercials in the half-hour or hour slot.

I love the Sweeney, i to have all the DVD'S and films/pilot annuals and soundtrack CD, I also own a 1977 S reg MK1 Ford Granada 3.0 GL which always gets Sweeney comments. The mk1 Consul/Granada will always be linked with the Sweeney, that's why the prices and bids are so high on ebay. I am so glad i got it 20 years ago when they where bangers and not really classics.

I've got the blu-rays of the movies which came out earlier this year. So much better than Ray Winstone's version with better storylines, very fine performances, more realism and most of all, that undeniably '70s feel. Hope series 2-4 come out in HD too.
