How about your memories at the fair ground when you were young

Going on the waltzers with a friend to find the guys would spin you round so fast, you would come off feeling giddy

I was to scared to attempt the skid anyone remember those,it was similar to the waltzers, but with chains attached

    The Twister

Went on a wooden roller coaster sat in the front seat, was petrified when it reached the top,was screaming until it reached the bottom

    Water chute and getting soaked

Rubber skeletons and skull keyrings with fake gems for eyes. The only time as a kid I saw Candyfloss and hot dogs. The ghost train and bumper cars were favourite rides.
The fair when it came to town was much bigger then it seems to be now.

The plastic ducks going round ,stall where you had to hook one to win a prize,I can,t remember what I won something like a pack of snap cards

Throwing rings round a bowl to win a gold fish,to find when you got home the fish was half dead

I've always liked the horse racing games. I think there was a variant where you had to hit a target with a water cannon to make the horses go.

This thread set me thinking.. The thing I most liked was candy floss on a stick. Today I think it has to be sold in a bag or cone like thing, probably because of health and safety (Gordon Bennett!!) Seeing the operator of the candy floss kiosk hold the stick in there and all that sugary confection flying round was half the fun.
The smell of fried onions that were about to fill a hot-dog, mixed with diesel fumes from the generators was great, and always filled the air adding to the excitement I think. But i was too afraid to go on the ghost train. It wasn't the ride that scared me but the long painting on the top of the ride showing ghosts and terrified people running along the platform. Scared the living daylights out of me!

The arm and grabber.... I don't think anyone ended up with that pound note
That's no golf ball Mr. Solo..

When the traveling fair used to come into town, I used to slope off round where they parked up the old lorries (late 60's and 70's Trucks) they had, like eight wheeler's and tractor units. ERF's, Foden's, Bedford TK's, Ford D series. I used to love looking at their old trucks.

Was never a fan of big rides but liked all the stalls, especially those with the giant stuffed animals and teddies bigger than yourself as prizes. You never see them anywhere else.
