This whole topic just gets me so angry, the same applies to 80's songs, it all boils down to ignorant, useless, lazy DJ's who don't do their research and just rely on their own limited repertoire of hits, so if, for example somebody requests a song by Ah-Ha all you get is "Take on Me", Human League? "Don't You Want Me"......etc, ad nauseam.

Recently started a new job in SW London and came across an excellent local radio station "Jackie" who actually play hits from the 70's & 80's that I genuinely have not heard in ages. So refreshing.

Check out the album version on the, er, album "Watch" - you can see the 45 edit was condensed from a live take, with the girly "Davey's on the road agaiiiiiin" vocal added

As much as I like those songs I've also noticed oldies radio stations almost always go for the easy options when choosing songs.

Blinded By The Light is normally Manfred Manns Earth Band most likely to be played song.

Recently I bought an AM only radio of eBay & have been listening to some local oldies stations on it, sometimes they dig out a less known song.

Going from extreme of the 70s (date-wise) Susi Qautro and Evilgate Drtive is hardly ever played these day's i find as is'nt Nillson's Without You and the original Seasons In The sun by Terry Jacks - all being early-ish 1970s stuff right through to nothing by Debroah Harry/Blondie at the decade's end too!
