  • 'Lovely' chocolate desert

the 'lovely' was my absolute favourite ! and i still miss them , we used to eat them as soon as you could actually dig the spoon in while it defrosted. why did they stop making them ? best chocolate frozen desert ever ! Another thing i really miss is the banana ice cream lolly with the toffee centre, my best friend thinks they were called a 'lord snooty' (from the comic character) does anyone else remember them ? Any clues.
ps i am going to write to Birds Eye company and ask them if they can make "lovely's again !!!

cheers and i will tell my friends about this fab site x

Re: re ' lovely ' chocolate desert

I used to be a big fan of Lovelys.
Like a lot of people I seemed to mostly eat them frozen, due to my mum forgetting to get them out of the freezer.

I'm not sure about the Lord Snooty lolly though, could it be Lord Toffingham ? (Pictured below with the all time classic Funny Faces).

      Although, now I think about...................
You said banana with a toffee centre didn't you.
So, what era are we talking ?

Walls did a lolly called Wiz in the 70s (or maybe 60s)

And Lyons Maid did the Bananaman Lolly in the 80s.

Both had banana outside & toffee inside.
Could it be any of these ?

I've looked for pics of Lovelys, but I can't find one anywhere. I'll keep looking though.

Yeah, especially with that surprised look on Leslie's face.

Sahra, I have such fond memories of that frozen desert; a deep chocolate frozen mousse with piped cream on the top in little dots in a flower shape ... YUM!!! I'd forgotten about them, but reading your post brings it all back
