I have heard 2 real 80s Classics in the last few day's - Mel and Kim Respectable (I'm still looking and looking for a dance version of this one from the late 90s) but to no avail whatsoever. Finally I heard the soul legend that is Terence Trent Darby and Sign Your Name from the late 80s - what a classic cool song indeed!

            Re: Songs heard when shopping

My sister used to be an assistant in a shoe shop and sometimes she would bring in a tape of pop songs (a pre-recorded album of stuff and not a mix tape of course) so that people in the shop could hear them. I have this feeling that the Performing Rights Society or the Musicians Union would have been against this sort of thing from happening in public.

The thing is, one would go into a shop to buy things, not to hear the latest Coldplay album - unless it was HMV or Virgin of course. People talking make enough noise inside without music blaring out.

There is some irony in this considering that B&Q sell paint...

They had the radio on think it was absolute 80s just feel it's such an underrated tune. Never come acros metal as back ground music though?

Sorry Caitlyn this was not in response to your post ,i was talking more generally. When i go into a shop i like to concentrate on the merchandise but loud music is a distraction i can live without.

Sometimes I feel as if the would-be shopper is supposed to try on clothes and parade along the floor of the shop to the music as if they are Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss walking on the catwalk.

It could be worse - charity shops (of the Age UK variety at least) often have Gold-type radio stations on - I doubt that anyone would do that in there.
