  • 70's series where people were scared of electricity?

    Can you remember what it was called. Probably, given my mum's snobbish TV aspirations, on the Beeb.

    I remember one scene, where kids were looking up, scared, at some HT power lines, and they were humming. Well they do when you're a kid, don't they, but not when you're my age any more, lol. And my hearing's pretty good for my age, I'm told.

        I've still heard power lines hum on occasion. It is pretty eerie especially if walking across quiet fields. I also find pylons a bit creepy up close. All big and looming.

          It was set in Bristol - I recognised some of the places as I had an Aunt in Bristol. Thanks folks! I want the trilogy it's based on and now I can order it.

            The "Play Safe" warning film which was shown in schools probably did a lot to instill such feelings in many children at the time:
