    Re: parking tickets

Parking tickets have become such a revenue stream for local authorities that they're not above using dirty tricks and even ignoring their own official guidelines, e.g. by having wardens not wait long enough to see if a vehicle is stopped for loading or unloading rather than being parked as such (which is permissible, so long as there aren't also loading restrictions in place).

Most of the wardens today work for private companies which are contracted by the local councils for parking enforcement, and since the company is out to make as much profit as possible for themselves and the council it seems as though their wardens are under pressure to issue an unrealistic number of tickets per shift or they're out, even to the point of fabricating evidence in some cases.

Then there's the ridiculous stream of "parking" tickets from CCTV surveillance when somebody stops at the roadside for just a few seconds, checking directions, trying to locate an address, settling a child in the car, or even to try and see what the parking signs say!

It's outrageous that this is the way local authorities are behaving now and that nothing is being done to curb it.
