    Re: Neighbours

There have been cases nowadays where someone living alone has died & not been found until months later, something that would never have happened years ago. THough surely in those months there must have been some sign of death, if only the smell of decay

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

      Re: Neighbours

With the advent of direct deposit of benefits and automatic bill pay, I think we're going to see more and more of these scenarios. It's the closest thing to perpetual motion. And out here there was a case a couple of years ago where somebody was murdered on the balcony of his flat. The body lay there in open view for several days. The neighbours all thought it was a Halloween decoration.

        Re: Neighbours

I suppose that is the natural thing to think a corpse on a balcony is a Halloween decoration as we all think murders happen in the bad part of town rather than the leafy suburbs.

And then there are car alarms: people just say "Who's alarm is that?" and don't even think to look out their window or call the police

              Re: Neighbours

I remember car alarms had a bad reputation for going off accidently, so people just ended up ignoring them.
