  • Band Aid 30 years on

Just heard the new Band Aid song and I think it's awful. Why do todays boy bands have to sing in false American accents? Does anybody prefer it to the original version?

Wish they'd have re-released the original instead of recording a new version. The 2004 version was equally as awful although I quite liked the 1989 one.

Guess I'll listen to the original and donate a tenner to the ebola campaign.

The 1989 one was produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman who dominated the pop scene back then, just listened to it again today on YouTube for the first time in 20 years and it still sounds better than the two subsequent remakes. Of course I don't think you can ever beat the original and it had such a great video. The 2004 one was unlistenable. The current one just sounds too polished and synthetic....and as for the dull video....

I've not heard the new one yet.

The original was really something special, & stands the test of time.

I wasn't too keen on the 1989 version, it hardly every gets played these days.

The 2004 version was OK apart from the rap, which spoilt it slightly, but the early parts were fine.

But what did they do with all those millions back then?
Surely over the years they've had more "free" money than they can shake a stick at and yet every year they come back with their hands out for more.

I remember the 1985 reissue of Feed The World had a video showing all the things the money had been spent on.
