    Good call Amethyst.

    Right, I’d like to see:

A re-run of the first couple of series of The Phil Silvers Show.
    Harvey (with James Stewart)
A classic version of A Christmas Carol that I haven’t seen (doesn’t exist).
A solid 60/70s WW2 film: maybe The Mckenzie Break, something like that
    Being There (with PS)

And I’d like these to be on the main terrestrial channels and for me to discover them by perusing the Radio Times (for the BBC stuff) and TV Times (for the ITV/C4 stuff).

      Re: Xmas tv

The best thing about Xmas TV for me ( in my early teens ) was getting the double issue of TV/Radio Times and me and my younger sister going thru them with a highlighter and marking all the progs we wanted to watch. Sadly nowadays with so many channels and the internet there is no " Big Christmas Film ". We can with a little internet knowledge watch anything we like. That having said I always look forward to " It's a Wonderful Life " each Xmas.

Well my point is....there is no "New Stuff" anymore. We can watch it all on the net way b4 it comes on TV. For example....If you know where to look you can see Expendables 3 and it's not even out at the cinema yet.

              Re: Xmas tv

I normally like the Xmas specials.

These days there isn't a big film of the day, but I managed to see enough old favourites over the last Xmas period.

I've got It's a Wonderful Life on DVD but still went out of my way to see it on TV. I can never remember it being shown much when I was young.

I remember the excitement of getting the christmas editions of the Radio and Itv times, and making a note of everything I was going to watch, and then when we had a video recorder of everything I was going to record.Unfortunately nowadays most of whats shown we've already seen or in the case of all this celebrity rubbish don't want to watch.
