  • UK soft drink from the '80s (Schweppes?)

I've been trying to remember the name of this fizzy drink for years now. It was a Schweppes drink, I'm fairly certain, and it dates from the early '80s, I think, though it didn't last very long. It's "USP" was that it had some (Chinese?) root extract in it, from which its name was derived. I think the name had a "z" in it somewhere, and maybe a "sch" or an "aa", a bit like "Kazaa" (not that, though, obviously). The name is on the tip of my tongue all the time, but I just can't remember it, and it's driving me crazy! I think the can was sort of green and yellow, but I might be mistaken there. Can anyone help, please?

I can't think of it either, but was the extract Guarana? I remember that being quite big in the 80s.

Thanks, Mulletino, and I dig your avatar.

It was indeed. And that helpful hint has led me to the answer: it was Schizan. What a weird name - maybe a bit too close to "schizo" for comfort. The other herbal ingredient was schizandra/schisandra. See the can here:http://www.canmuseum.com/Detail.aspx?CanID=39340

It's funny how hard it can be to track something down on the web without some precise detail, like the name of it!

btw, it was introduced in the UK in 1995, not the early 80s. My memory playing tricks on me.

And it was pronounced "Shizaan". Advert here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zYC6_dVQNo
