  • RIP Terry Pratchett

Sir Terence David John "Terry" Pratchett, OBE died today of natural causes after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He will be missed by fans of fantasy, humour, beards, eyebrows and hats.

He is best known for his Discworld series of about 40 volumes. Pratchett's first novel, The Carpet People, was published in 1971, and since his first Discworld novel (The Colour of Magic) was published in 1983, he wrote two books a year on average.

    (28 April 1948 – 12 March 2015)
Their light of pocket torch, of signal flare,
Licks at the edge of unsuspected places,
While others scan, under an arc-lamp's glare,
Nursery, kitchen sink, or their own faces.
    -Kingsley Amis

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.
