I thought that Cilla semi-retired from television in around 1978 to raise her family before making a comeback in 1984 to do Surprise, Surprise.

It annoyed me when someone went on Stars in the Eyes as Cilla, and the punter was doing one of her 1960s songs, but the makeup and stylists they made her look as if she was about to present Blind Date 30 years later, rather than make her look as she did in the 1960s.
I am now in my 40s (just in case anyone asks).

I love Tony Blackburn's possible Freudian slip introducing Cilla: "She always makes great records but I think this one is an exception." Oof!

That was horrendous rendition of a terrible song .

Never liked her to be honest , not a nice person apparently.

She just got lucky .. being at the right place at the right time plus being big mates with the Beatles kinda helped her ..

Didn't she ever! I could never understand how she got away with her Scouse schtick for so long. It was always obviously false.

I can't say that was much of a song and I was never much of a fan, but she was a good presenter imo and it is sad she is no longer with us. To be honest, I thought that Sheridan Smith did a better job singing in that biopic than Cilla herself.

Agree Sheridan was great as Cilla, enjoying her in "cleaning up" on itv currently playing a cleaner with a gambling habit who is trying her hand at insider trading
