I also remember being able to rent Mega drive games at our local video store.
One that I always thought was quite good but never owed was micro machines.

Sonic was the game to play but I also recall spending hours in the company of 'California Games' 'Ghouls and Ghosts' and Shinobi.

I loved sonic but a couple of years ago went back to it and it was sooooo slow!
Do you remember the cheat on sonic 1?
On the title screen you had to do something to the controller that was near impossible and the screen would "ding" to let you know you'd done it. Can't remember what it did though!
There was also a cheat on sonic 2 where you could make him super sonic.
