Previous posters have mentioned Christmas Day hospital visit programmes and I would not mind seeing that kind of thing return.
It is ironic that a character like Ken Barlow who has been in the series from the start - he was obviously in his early 20s in 1960 and a pensioner now - the opposite of most of the main characters.

That was also the Crimewatch UK number as well. They changed it to 01 811 8181, which went nicely when the outer London code changed to 081, and then 0181.

Characters are more likely to wear a denim skirt rather than a flat cap these days.

I think that it was actually spelt Ghost Watch (two words) wasn't it?

I'm pretty sure I have the Ghost Watch DVD at home. XD

A precursor to Most Haunted, with less acting.

You must have had it copied it from a video tape as DVDs were not around in 1992. I don't think so anyway.

Does he mean a pre-recorded DVD, as is has been released on DVD in recent years.

I didn't know that it had been released on DVD - I thought that due to the controversy of the programme back in the early 1990s, I would doubt that they would have made a special DVD of it.

It's been officially released on DVD several times.

I am surprised as I would have thought that it would have been banned.

I don't think it was released for a long time though, & never repeated on TV.

It was live so I doubt it was repeated.

Re: Things you no longer see or hear on TV

I have been recently researching the Times archive and looking at the TV listings for the 1970s and 1980s, making notes of at least one programme from each day throughout several decades, and having a few thousand programmes written down in a list as a result! I have made my way back to the spring of 1969 after covering the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and making my choices for each day.

Although I was only born in 1978, some of the 1970s entries are interesting, especially in their way of scheduling at that time - for example, the start of Monday evenings on ITV used to flare out like a pair of fashionable trousers at the time, with programmes such as Opportunity Knocks, Whodunnit and David Nixon starting at 6.45 pm rather than 7.00 pm.

Another price of fascinating scheduling was mostly on Tuesdays, but could also be seen on Thursdays as well - a film shown on ITV between 7.00 pm and 8.30 pm (or 7.30 pm and 9.00 pm if Bless This House or another sitcom was shown earlier like it did on Thames). It seems that cowboy and western films made in the 1950s were seen in that slot, but also series that were an hour and a half long such The Snoop Sisters and Macmillan and Wife (which Anglia shown a bit), and also made a comeback on Channel 5 around 25 years later. There also seemed to be a series called The Name of The Game that some regions shown after News at Ten - I assume that it was at least six years prior to Abba's hit of the same name.

And also the number of beauty competitions on the television back then, and the variations as well - Miss World, Miss United Kingdom, as well as Miss Great Britain, and Miss England. Don't get me started on Miss Tyne Tees and most other regional ITV contests as well! I know that Bob Mills shown a couple of them on his In Bed With Medinner series a few years ago - he shown Miss Yorkshire Television 1977 which was held in Skegness and was presented by Bob "Central News" Warman" in a cream turtle neck sweater... .
