Grange Hill from 1978-1987 - then it was awful
    Moondial - so atmospheric

Does anybody remember Children of the Stones? It was produced by HTV in the 1970s and was last broadcast in 1978 although it is now available on DVD.

Children of the stones is certainly in my top two. I also liked The Moon Stallion. And what about Sky.

The Magician Trilogy produced between 1988 and 1991 in three series:

              The Snow Spider
              Emlyn's Moon
              The Chestnut Soldier

They were produced by HTV (could any other ITV company have produced dramas with so much mysticism?) and I think they were shown on CITV.

Escape into Night (ATV 1972): Eerie series that probably gave many kids a sleepless night.

Arthur of the Britons (HTV 1972): Very good re-telling of King Arthur legend with more realism than most versions.

Timeslip (1970 ATV): Intelligent time travel series with alternate futures.

Freewheelers (Southern 1968): Adventure series which ran until 1973. Three late teens work for Colonel Buchan of British Intelligence and come up against various threats to the country.

Follyfoot (Yorkshire 1971): Popular drama set on farm for unwanted horses. Most popular with girls but many a teenage boy had a crush on Gillian Blake--me included.

With regard to Timeslip, before the first episode was transmitted, Peter Fairley, Science correspondent for ITN at the time, did a short presentation to explain the concept of the show to children. Also, the twins who played clones in Timeslip were resident dancers on Lift-off with Ayesha--they were Lesley and Teresa Scoble.

Soldier and Me (Granada 1974): Adventure serial in which two boys go on the run after overhearing a murder plot. Based on a novel.
