I think he had something to do with the TV or film industry prior to acting but not really sure. His first role? Again, not sure. I know he played Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe in a TV series in the late 50s, but I doubt if that was his first role.

Now you mention about being a model that does ring a bell.

Ivanhoe was probably his first big role, but I believe he was in other TV or films before that, but not sure what they were.

NSH was very topical at the time as the oil was beginning to flow well and there were real concerns that platforms could be targets for terrorists.
I saw Gold at the cinema when it came out, along with the superb The Man Who Haunted Himself

Now The Man Who Haunted Himself is really good. I remember it being shown in the 70s in the 9.25pm monday night slot on BBC1. Prior to that night's 9pm news there was a trailer for it and I remember begging my parents to allow me to stay up late so I could watch it. I think it was in school time and didn't end until 10.45pm, but they did let me.

Roger often played his own mirror image as he did so in both the saint and the persuaders as well as TMWHH

Didn't he appear in drag once in The Persuaders playing Brett Sinclair's aunt or some other female relative?

TMWHH is close to the best thing Moore did. Was surprisingly good.. So original.
