OK, which Brit horror is set in and around the fictional London Underground station Hobbs End?

I think you are referring to Quatermass and the Pit, made in 1967 with Andrew Keir as Quatermass. Interestingly, the superior 1958 BBC serial where Andre Morell played Quatermass had the station as Hobbs Lane--no idea why lane became end in the film version.

Correct, of course! Great film, very spooky when I first watched it, special effects seem a bit wobbly now but still enjoyable!

                        Sir Alec Guinness.

In Whistle Down The Wind, who played 'the man' and what was the film's connection to the James Bond series?

Alan Bates is correct. As for Bond, someone common to the series and Whistle Down The Wind.
