Scum. It was originally a BBC play, but wasn't broadcast at the time it was made as it was so controversial. I saw the film version at the cinema on a double bill with Midnight Express--not exactly a riot of laughs.

Name the 70s film that was based on a very famous and tragic kidnapping case. This was also an extremely controversial film at the time.

OMG what a depressing double feature....but both very good films however.

                          I was right, then!

OK, which classic British film about clashes with authority was partly filmed in black & white due to running out of money for colour film?

Not that one. The one I am thinking of was so incredibly controversial and was made shortly after the real-life events on which it was based happened. It shares its title with a recent superhero movie.
