During the terrorist attack on the WTC NY on 11th September 2001 there was a no fly zone declared over NY and neighbouring areas; in fact there was a grounding of all flights across the US
The US Government claim no military aircraft 'engaged' with any aircraft with permission to engage (intercept & if aircraft refused direction given by military pilot & continued towards a major built up area such as NY shoot down)
I have it on reliable authority from one such pilot who flies for a US commercial airline & also flies for US National Guard weekends that THREE such commercial aeroplanes WERE shot down
Ask the US Government under Freedom of Information legislation & they will deny ANY aircraft were shot down (engaged with)
