    Default Party Tubs of Cigarettes

Who remembers parties where there was always a tub of cigarettes with either 50 or 100 cigarettes (I forget which amount)

Often they were Sobrani a Russian brand which came in different colours. Nowadays there is one brand which still sell tubs of cigarettes the brand which I forget

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

None of our family smoked, but I remember seeing the tubs at parties. I can't quite be sure, but I have a vague recollection of seeing tubs advertised at Christmas in magazines. I think both 50s and 100s were sold.

I remember my Gran used to have an old wooden box that once held a large amount of cigarettes.

I used to buy JPS 50 tub every christmas. Used to shock me to see how quickly I would get through them. Gave up smoking in 2010.

Sobranie Cocktail and Black Russian are still available, but only specialist tobacconists (the few that still remain) stock them. I smoked in my 20s/30s and used to buy them at Christmas - the older Black Russian blend (1980s) had a weird and very strong flavour but they must have reformulated them at some point. Does anyone remember the brown More 120s that were quite popular in the 1980s? Regular were in a red pack and menthol in a green pack. Very cool looking but did not taste very nice and had a poor draw due to the slimness of the cigarette.

When I have time to kill at an airport I tend to look around the duty free shops. The cereal box sized cigarette packets are interesting to see, & might be a thing of the past in a few years.....
