Which Carry-On star was held at a POW camp during WW2 and took part in providing cover for escape tunnel digging, which was later dramatised in the film The Wooden Horse?

I think Talbot Rothwell was also in the same camp

Indeed, he was. I think Stratford Johns was also held at the same place.

                  A New One:

                  Who Am I?

I considered the three big points in my career were: being taken on by the Players Theatre after WW2 for my professional debut; working with Tommy Handley; and doing the radio series Educating Archie.

                    That's Hattie Jacques.

In Carry on, Don't Lose your Head, Sid James played Sir Rodney Effing aka "The Black Fingernail." Which character from classic literature was he based upon?

Educated guess. The Scarlet Pimpernel? Not sure of spelling.

Correct. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, first a play, then the more famous novel.

                              Who Am I
I made my stage debut at age 11 after having spent several years in a prestigious acting school. A string of stage roles followed, and by 1929 my success led me to move into radio. My success in that medium led to my entry into films, often working alongside noted comedian Will Hay.

That, I think, would be Charles Hawtrey.
