Very sad to hear that Windsor Davies had passed away at the age of 88, just 4 months after his wife. Best remembered for his roles in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum in the 70s and Never the Twain in the 80s, both successful and long-running. He also starred in several of the latter Carry Ons. A natural as a military and police figure, he was a familiar face on British TV for decades. RIP.

I recall as a chikd watching It ain't half hot mum.
I loved the show, but I doubt it woukd be shiwn on terrestrial tv as it had homophobic issues.

Sad news. I'm too young to remember It Ain't Half Hot but his voice was well suited for Zero in Terrahawks.

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about his contribution to Terrahawks. Zero's verbal sparring with Dix-Huit was a delight.

Agreed, no chance of It Ain't Half Hot, Mum being shown on terrestrial again, but I think it was shown into the 90s as I remember my wife watching it and laughing--she hadn't seen it before.

I thought he was a lovely (and very funny) Sgt. in It Ain't Half Hot Mum. A sad end.

A great comedy actor - amazing to think that he got a number one hit in 1975!

It's a pity that It Ain't Half Hot Mum overshadowed Never the Twain as it was a good series.

Last week wasn't a very good week for anyone called Windsor or Mountbatten...
I am now in my 40s (just in case anyone asks).
