    Default Extremely obscure reference!

    Hello,

New to DYR, thanks for having me.

I've had a line for a children's cartoon I watched in the early to mid-90s.

I remember nothing except that it's said by a Turkey!

"Gobble gobble, could I just have a little sniff of the honey please?"

    HELP!

I have to admit that it didn't ring and bells with me.

Now you have said that, it does ring bells after all!

There was a turkey who appeared in that programme called Gobbledegook (Gobble de gook, get it?) - he kept speaking in such a way that some things sounded like spoonerisms and similar mannerisms. It was made by an independent company for Carlton (indirectly replacing programmes like Rainbow) when the pre-school programmes moved from 12.10 pm to 3.30 pm in September 1993 to be part of CITV.

It was not to be confused with Ralph McTell's Alphabet Zoo.

Thinking about it, Tatty Bogle, the scarecrow from Wizadora used to talk a bit in spoonerisms a bit like the turkey did, and that was a similar programme from the same time.
