Nah! metallica win hands down. while Anthrax were still learning and getting better all the time,Metallica knocked out Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets in quick succession..still the best metal ever,and the best things they ever released. IMHO.
Among the Living is good,but can it hold a candle to the Metallica lps?

Yep have to agree, metallica ruled until 91 then they went down hill fast. master of puppets is probably the best album they did imho. (got the picture disc of it)

M.O.P still sounds fantastic to this day! It blew me away then and still does,and I came from the old skool,even before the NWOBHM!! they just had the the most awesome sound,chops and style, they were untouchable in the late 80's..I agree..the rest was fair to middling

If they released a best of featuring only Battery & M.O.P, it would be money well spent,those tracks define modern metal to me
got a ticket for Wembley,but I think they are past the best days,and I don't really like the new bassist..(I remember saying that about Jason Newstead though)

lol i remember seeing metallica in 88 at newcastle city hall with newstead on the Justice tour, blew my mind away. Saw them in 92 also havent seen them since or wanted to, id rather remember the good stuff L)

Ditto..saw them with CB on the MOP tour,could be RTL,then nothing.they came back well from the death,but the old "we will never make videos/sell out thing soon killed them.They could have come out of all that with grace,but the whole Napster episode and the make-up/load stuff?? forget it..they still rocked,just looked like faggy cowboys..sad

they all look a bit tired now..hetfield's gay handlebar tash can't get any bigger,Hamnett's still got a poodle perm, but you'd think the drummer,doing all the physical work,would be in shape..?? last time I saw Large Ulricht he was large indeed!
