Didn't they do an ITV schools series for Granada called "Reading with Lenny" or something? I know that Basil Brush did series on that.

I know that Terry and Lenny also made an appearance on Rainbow circa 1989 as well.

Didn't Lenny the Lion have a catchphrase such as "Silly Billy" or something?

I think it was "Don't Embawish Me!"

Or "Aw, don't embawass me!" as Wikipedia mentions.

According to the IMDB, Hall and the Lion appeared in the Rainbow episode "New Friends" aired on Tuesday 10th November 1987 (and I thought that Tuesdays were when repeats aired and Fridays were when new episodes were shown), but I am certain that it was repeated in 1989 around the time my family got a VCR as we recorded it (I had already reached double figures by that point but never mind). Cue Hall reading the story of The Lonely Lion - the memory is good as it was one of the episodes that made it onto video in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
