  • Genesis

Started off as a pop-rock band in 1969 with Peter Gabriel on vocals. Trespass in 1970 hinted at the more progressive direction they would take followed by the energetic Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot (featuring the legendary Supper's Ready), Selling England By The Pound, Genesis Live and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. After Gabriel left in 1975, drummer/backing singer Phil Collins took over as lead singer and continued the prog rock trend with Trick Of The Tail and Wind & Wuthering. Then they had a hit single with Follow You Follow Me in 1978. Fans thought they'd sold out but they had a lot more commercial success and to be fair, released some cracking singles up till 1992. Their albums still contained the long songs they were best known for in the 1970s. I have all their albums on my USB stick in my car.

Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot and Selling England (and bits of TLLDOB) all still feature regularly on my playlist.
Lost interest in the band after that.

Jesus He Knows Me is a hidden gem, released when many televangelists were under scrutiny after a few scandals.

A Genisis album might go onto my Christmas present wish list (I have added a Bacharach album on there already).

I'll see if any album had that on it.

I wondered if he was referring to that previous post suggesting ‘Jesus he knows me ‘ was a hidden gem ?

Yes, that's about the size of it.

It's clever how the chorus could be from a Christian rock song, but the verses tell a different story.

The video (especially the extended version) is shot like a Praise The Lord style religious channel.
