    Re: Winter

I read earlier on that the first Monday in February is usually the main day in the year when people are more likely to be off with colds, flu or anything else wrong with then. I suppose that as the Coronavirus thing had been upgraded in Britain to moderate, this year at least, they might be some truth about that.

Hopefully when this month has gone and we are into March springtime we will spend more time in fresh air and we will feel better in ourselves more daylight

I think there has been lots of heavy snowfalls since - I know that in around 1991 we were without power for a couple of hours. Cue the candles coming out of the cupboard which hadn't seen the light (if you please excuse the pun) of day since the Three Day Week nearly 20 years previously. A great history lesson for all of us indeed.

I remember in 1987 there was bad snow & high winds, which meant some people lost both their power supply & phone lines.

For a moment I thought you were referring to the infamous October 1987 storm that Michael Fish misled the nation about - I went to school on Friday 16th October, and to be honest, I could have been blown to school rather than walked there that morning.

Odd how we pronounce Storm Ciera like a K and not a C, a bit like Keira Knightley's name.

Snow, and tons of the stuff in Nottingham.

Took me four and a half hours to do a trip out that would have originally took an hour and a half on an ordinary day.

I tell you something - this Storm Ciera seems to equal the 1987 storm in any case (did the 1987 storm have a name, or was it before British storms and hurricanes were named?)
