    I was far too good to attempt something like this! Shame on all you naughty people . Mind you I can't remember other people doing it either. Perhaps because most of the gardens round ours were quite cut off with VERY BIG privets and fences between them.

    I did used to to jump over the fence separating our garden from the next door neighbours and often strayed into other neighbours gardens. At the time I had no concept of it being their property and that I shouldn't really be in there. I didn't think they'd mind me mooching about.

      We knew it as Garden Hopping in West Yorks. where I grew up. I lived in a cul-de-sac so we would try to work our way around the whole dozen or so houses this way. Some gardens had different tactics to negotiate them; open lawns would require sneaking under the windows up against the house so as not to be seen. I guess Garden Hopping was its own reward as there was little to show for it at the end.
