The Christians - Redcar Bowl - 1987 (ish)

Managed to buy 3 pints of lager for me and 2 mates from bar before the support band, got quizzed for ID when I went back for more.

      We were 15! Bah!
Quick... Run... Hide... Here comes Dave Stewart, walking up the drive, with that look in his eye!

Adam and the Ants - 1982

We had a lot of good bands come to Perth at that time. My cousins went to see Kiss in 1979 but I wasn't allowed. Was only 10

Mine was The Stranglers at the Colston Hall too, but in 1980. I remember it as VERY loud. Went with loads of friends from school.

It was just after we had all done our 'O' levels, so looking back that summer concert was a kind of final fling for our punkish network before we all dispersed. Some like me, went on to do A levels, and I kind of lost my way with the Punk/New Wave music of bands like The Stranglers, Magazine and The Cure, becoming drawn in to the more middle class teenager tastes of 70s prog rock, which somehow was still echoing loudly in 6th form culture at the time and setting me up for a painful readjustment when I eventually went off to university in '83.

Phew, with all these cool bands being quoted I thought I was the only one who would be owning up to Shawaddywaddy! It was sometime before 1981 and carnival day where I lived, mum took me and my sister to the carnival then packed my sister off with a babysitter and took me for my "surprise", I was absolutely delighted and can still be heard humming "under the moon of love" occasionally lol
