  • Are you turning into your Mum or Dad?

Not just in the old clichéd clothes sense but in your mannerisms or the way you now live your life.

I think I'm probably more like my Mum now but in a concsious way. Now she's gone I tend to do domestic stuff like washing, cleaning etc on the day and time she did them (she was nothing if not a stickler for a housework routine) and always try and think how both she and Dad would have handled a situation when trying to bring up my son right. For me it helps keep them alive and in my thoughts.

It's so daft. You have to wait until people are gone to appreciate what they really did for you.

Yeah, sometimes when I tell a corny joke, I think oh no that sounded just like one of Dad's jokes!

I sometimes find myself sounding and doing little things, where I think oh that was just like Mum, or ohh Dad would have said or done that, I couldn't agree more with your last statement, you never truely know what youv'e had until it's gone, then its all too late, So for all you out there lucky enough to still have both parents treasure them, and if you love them tell them so.

        Awww Fev

On the original subject however, it MUST run through the generations because I often think to myself 'God !! I can hear my mum talking!!' when I'm spouting off to my lot and their kids too

I look at my kids and see my Nan's mannerisms. They must have got those from me. Oggy promises me though that I am not turning into a replica of my mother.

I try and bring up my kids to know the difference between right and wrong and be polite, my parents did a good job with me and my sister so I hope I can pass it on to the next generation. Even now I sound like my mum! But I sound like her more than ever when I'm shouting at them!

My eldest daughter was the same - now she's twice as strict with her two
I can hear myself when she's 'going on' at them though I must admit

Oh yes, Yesterday it was bitterly cold and I saw a young woman, well a bit younger than me in a backless party dress which just about held her in and I was dressed like Nanooke of the North. I had to bite my lip to avoid shouning accross the street "GET A BLOODY COAT ON GIRL."
