  • 60's tune

    hi everybody, just joined , this is my first post. Have a tune buzzing in my head that i cannot put a name to. I hope that I am not the only oldie on here otherwise i'll never find it. Here goes with the lyrics;

Hey little girl in your powder blue
how about a date with you

This could be a 60's song or tv commercial jingle, cant recall. Thanks for taking time to look
    regards

          Hi Lionsboy,

I was thinking it might have been T. Rex - Celebrate summer has the "little girl" lyrics (no blue powder though) but that was 1977.

I am looking for the same song but can't find it.
it went .. It's cheeky I know but what is a fellow to do.
                honest and true.
ive hung around ever since you walked in.
you're just the greatest thing that I've ever seen.
so little girl. ... And so on.
i think it was an add for Bri-nylon jumpers or something and it became really popular. A friend had the record but I cannot find the song on any of the download sites.

Hi. I too have been trying to find the artist with no luck. I have a very poor quality casette recording of this song probably off the radio made between 1965 and 1972.

Hey Little girl in your powder blue
I have got my eye on you
Hey Little girl in your powder blue
Can I sit & talk with you
You'll never know what my poor old heart has been through
                  Since I saw you

Say little girl in your powder blue
How's about a date with you
It's cheeky I know but what is a fellow to do
                  Honest & true

                  etc etc.

Very pleasant & catchy, but who is the artist????
From the recording I have it is certainly not for an advert (far too long & no brands mentioned), although an extract could have been used for one I suppose.

                  Cheers,
                  Roger.

Sorry, does not sound at all like Albert Hammond to me. Far too jaunty!

A bit more research & help. It was by Jess Conrad & is called "Hey Little Girl". Available on Spotify.
                          Cheers,
